Overview

The Sr. Business Intelligence Engineer will create actionable data solutions to facilitate the strategic objectives, operational efficiency, and growth of the company. This role will interface directly with business owners and subject matter experts to develop a deep understanding of their analytical needs and translate their requirements into business intelligence solutions that drive business decisions, insights, and outcomes through actionable, easy-to-use data solutions.  Using the business intelligence and data modeling technologies available, this role will design, develop, test, document, maintain, and support all data solutions including but not limited to reports, dashboards, and data models.  The Sr. Business Intelligence Engineer will work with business stakeholders and customers across multiple functional areas inside and outside of the organization, providing subject matter and data expertise to guide solution design and recommendations. This role will also provide thought leadership and guide data consumers toward an optimal solution while developing and delivering quality work products. 

 

This position is based out of our Hampton, NH office and will be expected to work our hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze complex ideas and proposals leveraging multiple sources of information including broader stakeholder views to develop solutions and recommendations.
  • Ensure data solutions are designed, developed, and implemented using the most appropriate method and tools available, with an emphasis on performance, scalability and automated monitoring and alerting capabilities
  • Work closely with various internal and external stakeholders to clarify business requirements, remove roadblocks, and align business vision into product strategy and solution.
  • Lead large, complex projects to completion to achieve key business objectives.
  • Leverage best in class processes, and methodologies to deliver solutions quickly, accurately, securely, and at scale.
  • Build solutions following best practices to ensure data quality and consistency with a focus on continuous delivery and integration.
  • Ensure methodologies can support changing business conditions and reduce time to market.
  • Plan, design, and develop reports, dashboards, and other data solutions under ambiguous conditions that require proactive collection of iterative requirements.
  • Gather business requirements and use cases from internal and external customers and translate those requirements into top-down technical solutions and designs documentation across all aspects of the business intelligence solution.
  • Develop and implement interactive, customer-oriented data solutions to help drive business decisions.
  • Modify data solutions as issues/bugs are discovered and/or because of changes to source systems or to the supporting technology toolsets.
  • Lead individual or classroom training for users on data solutions, technologies, and functionality.
  • Provide guidance and support to colleagues, serving as a mentor in areas of expertise performing quality and performance checks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, Engineering, Information/Computer Sciences, or a related field, required
  • 5-7 years of experience as a programmer, analyst, or developer
  • Demonstrated experience in analytics tooling such as, IBM Cognos Business Intelligence Technologies (Report Studio, Framework Manager, Powerplay Transformer, Workspace Advanced, and Query Studio), Tableau, Power BI, Domo, QlikSense, Microstrategy or something similar
  • Proven experience working closely with business owners and subject matter experts to document, design, develop, and deliver actionable data solutions, required
  • Experience working in a retail business, desired
  • Experience working in a franchise business, desired
  • Working knowledge of fundamental database modeling and design principles
  • Working knowledge of the data warehouse lifecycle as well as star schema and/or denormalized database design
  • High proficiency in SQL programming and development
  • Practical or applied understanding of UI/UX design principals and data visualization theory
  • Working knowledge of ETL tools, required
  • Possesses an understanding of payment processing and recurring payments, desired
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong presentation and public speaking and communication skills, desired
  • Adaptable with a focus on “Discipline of Execution” to ensure quality of deliverables, adherence to standards and continuous improvement of people, process, and tools
  • Ability to balance multiple project deadlines and priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Excellent attention to detail, efficient, and organized with an ability to establish priorities and objectives
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills along with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Able to establish and maintain effective, collaborative work relationships with diverse individuals, internally and externally
