Overview

The Vice President, Technology will lead the engineering and architecture strategy that powers our fitness products and platforms. This role also leads the next wave of technology innovation across our technology ecosystem—from mobile experiences and streaming platforms to wearable integrations and AI-powered coaching.

The Vice President, Technology will lead our engineering and architecture functions while serving as a champion of innovation across the organization. The VP will drive the development of groundbreaking features and systems that power transformative fitness experiences, ensuring they are not only scalable and secure but also differentiated in a competitive landscape. The VP will inspire technical teams to think boldly and build with purpose.

The Vice President, Technology will lead the development and execution of the company's technology vision, with a core focus on engineering excellence and robust, scalable architecture. This role will drive innovation across our fitness tech stack—from mobile apps and wearables to backend systems ensuring a seamless and motivating user experience.

 

This is a hybrid role working out of our Hampton, NH office.

Responsibilities

Technology Strategy & Innovation Leadership

  • Define and execute a forward-thinking technology strategy that supports the future of fitness, including real-time coaching, performance tracking, and intelligent personalization.
  • Define and drive the company’s technology roadmap to support innovation in fitness tracking, content delivery, and personalized training.
  • Foster a culture of innovation across engineering by encouraging experimentation, fast prototyping, and creative problem-solving.
  • Identify and incubate emerging technologies (e.g., AI/ML, AR/VR, advanced wearables) that can unlock new opportunities for growth and engagement.
  • Serve as an internal innovation ambassador, helping cross-functional teams adopt new tools, processes, and mindsets to stay ahead of the curve.
  • Lead efforts in team development, hiring, and performance management for engineers and architects.

Engineering Oversight

  • Lead the design, development, and delivery of high-quality, consumer-facing digital fitness products (mobile apps, web platforms, APIs).
  • Establish best-in-class software development practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and secure coding standards.
  • Recruit, develop, and mentor a diverse, high-performing engineering team that thrives on ownership, curiosity, and impact.
  • Build and scale engineering and architecture teams that are agile, collaborative, and results driven.
  • Serve as a technology thought leader on the executive team, aligning engineering efforts with product and business goals.


Architectural Ownership

  • Ensure high performance, reliability, and security in all products and systems, with the flexibility to evolve alongside the rapidly changing fitness landscape.
  • Design and evolve a modern, cloud-native architecture to support millions of users, real-time data processing, and high availability.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Product, UX, Data, and Marketing teams to deliver engaging and high-performance digital fitness experiences.
  • Support integration with fitness hardware, third-party health platforms, and IoT devices.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies in digital fitness, wearables, and performance analytics.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of engineering experience, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role
  • 10+ years of experience with fitness technology ecosystems, including mobile fitness apps, member management, billing, payment and wearable integrations
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • Demonstrated success in scaling engineering teams and delivering complex consumer-facing digital products
  • Expertise in system architecture, cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP), APIs, mobile technologies, and scalable web services
  • Experience building platforms in fitness, wellness, or connected consumer technology sectors
  • Extremely detail-oriented, efficient, and organized with an exceptional ability to establish priorities and objectives and lead and manager projects to completion
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills along with the ability to professionally communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, including with executives
  • Strong ability to establish and maintain effective, collaborative work relationships with diverse individuals, internally and externally through direct and positive communications
  • Creative, progressive, thought leadership with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
  • Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking, creative problem-solving, and organizational leadership skills, including the ability to develop a well thought out plan, set it in motion, and generate alternative solutions
  • Excellent leadership skills including the ability to build teams, motivate, guide, and mentor
