Overview

As a key member of the Strategy leadership team, the Director of Enterprise Analytics will define and lead the enterprise-wide analytics and insights agenda for Planet Fitness. This role is responsible for transforming data into actionable intelligence that drives strategic decision-making, operational excellence, and long-term growth.

 

The Director will establish a clear, cohesive analytics strategy that integrates advanced analytics, business intelligence, and performance measurement across the organization. This leader will partner closely with senior executives and cross-functional teams to ensure insights are embedded into planning, execution, and performance management—most notably through the development and governance of an enterprise dashboard and scorecard that tracks insight adoption and business impact.

 

Ideal candidate will have deep experience analyzing consumer behavior and transactional data to drive business decisions, including membership retention, churn, and lifetime value. Must be highly quantitative, comfortable building predictive models, running cohort analyses, and translating data insights into P&L outcomes. Experience with subscription-based or consumer-facing businesses is strongly preferred.

 

This role requires a rare blend of strategic vision, analytical rigor, and hands-on execution, along with the ability to clearly communicate complex insights to diverse audiences. The ideal candidate has a proven ability to build high-performing analytics teams, foster data-driven cultures, and influence decisions at the highest levels of the organization.

 

Competencies for Success

To be successful in this role, the Director of Enterprise Analytics will:

  • Lead the enterprise analytics strategy – Drive initiatives that turn data into actionable insights aligned with Planet Fitness’ strategic goals.
  • Be a cross-functional analytics authority – Provide thought leadership and guide teams to use data in decisions, operations, and growth initiatives.
  • Foster a data-driven culture – Promote analytics adoption to optimize processes and enhance organizational performance.
  • Translate insights into action – Work with senior leaders to integrate data into key decisions and business planning.
  • Leverage advanced analytics – Use predictive modeling, statistical analysis, and emerging technologies to anticipate trends and identify opportunities
  • Ensure data quality and accessibility – Partner with IT and vendors to maintain standardized, reliable data and best-in-class tools.
  • Champion data-driven decision-making – Advocate for insights to shape strategic and operational priorities across the enterprise.

 

This role follows a hybrid schedule and requires regular, in-person work at our Boston, MA or Hampton, NH office. Our hybrid model is M/T/W in office and TH/F are optional work-from-home. Candidates must reside within commuting distance of one of these locations. Fully remote work is not available for this role.

Responsibilities

Analytics Strategy & Enterprise Leadership

  • Define and execute an enterprise analytics strategy aligned with Planet Fitness’ strategic priorities and transformation objectives.
  • Serve as the enterprise authority on analytics and insights, providing thought leadership that informs strategic initiatives, operational improvements, and growth opportunities.
  • Champion a data-driven culture by embedding analytics into strategic, operational, and financial planning processes across the organization.
  • Partner with executive leadership to identify key business drivers and ensure insights meaningfully influence enterprise-level decisions.

Data, Insights & Performance Measurement

  • Lead the development and governance of enterprise dashboards, scorecards, KPIs, and reporting frameworks that track business performance, insight utilization, and impact.
  • Oversee the analysis and interpretation of complex internal and external datasets, translating findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Apply advanced analytical techniques—including statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and machine learning—to identify trends, risks, and future opportunities.
  • Leverage both quantitative and qualitative data to support innovation, improve performance, and enhance the member experience.

Cross-Functional Partnership & Communication

  • Collaborate closely with Marketing, Operations, Finance, IT, and other key stakeholders to ensure analytics are integrated into decision-making across all functions.
  • Partner with IT and data engineering teams to standardize data sources, improve data quality, and ensure scalable, accessible analytics tools and platforms.
  • Translate complex analytical findings into compelling, executive-ready insights and recommendations that drive action.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Drive continuous improvement in analytics capabilities by evaluating and implementing emerging tools, technologies, and methodologies.
  • Lead “test and learn” initiatives to validate hypotheses, measure outcomes, and refine strategies based on results and evolving business needs.
  • Explore new data sources and analytical approaches to maintain a competitive edge and anticipate future trends.

Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing Analytics & Insights team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation.
  • Establish clear performance metrics and success measures for the team, including data quality, insight impact, and project delivery.
  • Partner with HRBPs and the Chief Strategy Officer to identify capability gaps and execute a talent development roadmap that supports future needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Business Administration, Data Science, Business Analytics, Economics, Statistics); Master’s degree or MBA preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or a related field, with 5+ years in a leadership role, managing teams and driving data-centric strategies
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale analytics initiatives that have resulted in measurable business impact, including revenue growth, cost reduction, and operational optimization
  • Extensive experience with data management and analytics platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, R, etc.)
  • Experience working cross-functionally with departments such as Marketing, Finance, and Operations to integrate data insights into strategic decision-making, ideally in a franchise environment
  • Extremely detail-oriented, efficient, and organized with an exceptional ability to establish priorities and objectives
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills along with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, including executives
  • Able to establish and maintain effective, collaborative work relationships with diverse individuals, internally and externally
  • Creative, progressive, thought leadership with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization and drive organizational change through the use of data and insights
  • Excellent leadership skills including the ability to build teams, motivate, guide, and mentor

The salary for MA-based employees hired into this role will be aligned with the range below. This is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with a candidate’s professional experience, qualifications and internal equity.

Annual Base Salary Range: $180,000-$225,000
