Overview

The Cloud Engineer  will play a key role in supporting and improving the infrastructure that powers Planet Fitness. This role will blend hands-on work across cloud platforms and on-prem systems—including AWS, Azure, servers, storage, networking, and security—with day-to-day support of core business services. The Cloud Engineer will partner closely with internal teams and vendors to troubleshoot issues, drive automation, and deliver secure, reliable solutions across both cloud and physical environments.

Responsibilities

  • Play an active role in delivering secure, scalable infrastructure across both cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Support and maintain cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, Cloudflare, and other SaaS applications.
  • Assist with infrastructure as code using Terraform for repeatable, scalable deployments.
  • Help maintain and troubleshoot Kubernetes environments, particularly AWS EKS clusters.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipeline workflows and automation processes across environments.
  • Use Git and GitHub for version control, code review participation, and collaboration.
  • Collaborate with application and data teams to support DevOps practices across infrastructure and development lifecycles.
  • Provide hands-on support for infrastructure operations including servers, SAN, virtualization (VMware), Wi-Fi, switches, firewalls, NAC, and endpoints.
  • Assist in the administration of Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Copilot, and retention policies.
  • Support identity and access management tools such as Active Directory, DNS, SSO, and certificates.
  • Help manage endpoint lifecycle workflows in Addigy (macOS) and Microsoft Intune (Windows), including device enrollment and app deployment.
  • Act as a Tier 2 escalation point for advanced support issues.
  • Assist with patching and remediation of zero-day vulnerabilities across supported systems.
  • Contribute to system documentation efforts, ensuring information is accurate and accessible.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and partners to resolve technical issues and deliver infrastructure projects on time.
  • Work with vendors and internal teams to help troubleshoot issues and support infrastructure initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in CIS, Engineering, or related field and/or a combination of directly related work experience commensurate to a minimum of 3–5 years of experience in cloud, infrastructure, or systems engineering roles
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure/Entra
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools, particularly Terraform
  • Experience supporting containerized environments and managing Kubernetes clusters (EKS preferred)
  • Understanding of CI/CD concepts and experience working with pipelines in CircleCi or similar platforms
  • Proficient with Git and GitHub for version control, branching, and code reviews
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, and public/private certificates
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and Compliance features)
  • Exposure to device management platforms such as Intune and Addigy
  • Comfortable troubleshooting Tier 2-level issues involving endpoint management, network access, or cloud services
  • Familiarity with patching workflows and vulnerability remediation processes (Linux and Windows)
  • Strong written documentation and communication skills, especially when working across teams
  • Experience using Jira for task tracking and Confluence for documentation and knowledge sharing
  • Extremely detail-oriented, efficient, and organized with an exceptional ability to establish priorities and objectives
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills along with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, including executives
  • Able to establish and maintain effective, collaborative work relationships with diverse individuals, internally and externally
